U-12s Crowned Champions

Everyone at The Lions Pride would like to congratulate the Nottingham Tiger Cubs on winning the Under 12s Division 1 North title last week.

Nottingham Tiger Cubs - Division 1 North Champions 2011/12

A convincing 10-3 victory over Billingham on the 21st April saw them crowned champions amidst a party-like scenes at the National Ice Centre.

It is the first time a Nottingham Under 12s side have won a league title since the 2004/05 season, where that side also went on to win the national finals that followed.

Nottingham finished level on points with rivals Sheffield at the top of the table but after a 9-8 home defeat earlier in the season, the Tiger cubs went up to South Yorkshire and won their away tie by two clear goals to seal a vital advantage in the standings.

Under 12′s coach Paul Glossop was understandably delighted with his side, saying;

“It’s such a great achievement for them -  it’s brilliant to see the amount of hard work and concentration they’ve put in over this season all pay off with today’s big win and the following celebrations.”

Coach, Paul Glossop - imparting some words of wisdom

“They are a credit to Nottingham Ice Hockey Club and I mustn’t forget to mention the other coaches Danny Rose and Craig Wallis and all the kids’ parents for all their efforts over the season too.”
